Individual arrested for theft of multiple items at a rental store Print E-mail

On Saturday, January 11, 2020, at about 8:17 a.m., the CNMI Department of public safety received a call from the Dial rent-to-own store in Chalan Kanoa, Saipan reporting a theft incident. Police were dispatched to the scene.

According to the caller, who is employed by the store, they noticed some items missing earlier in the week and wanted to report it. On January 6, 2020, employees noticed they were missing a drill set, after reviewing the store’s surveillance footage, a male individual was seen behind the counter, placing the drill set into his bag before walking out of the store. Management continued to review surveillance footage back until December 9, 2019, and discovered the same male individual putting items into his bag pack and walk out of the store. On some days the suspect would return to the store twice to take items. After an inventory of the store, total items missing were valued at $2,600.

The individual was identified as a boyfriend of an employee. The female individual was interviewed and positively identified Syl Kolin K. Teregeyo as the individual on the surveillance footage.

On January 31, 2020, at about 2:56 p.m., Honorable Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio signed and issued an arrest warrant for Syl Kolin Teregeyo for the charges of Theft on multiple incidents.

On Monday, February 3, 2020, at about 2:44 p.m., Teregeyo was apprehended and arrested by police at his residence in the village of Dan Dan, Saipan.
