SEARCH AND RESCUE UNIT (SARU)

SARU is a specialized 14-member unit that is responsible for land, sea, and air search and rescue operations. This unit works closely with the DPS Boating Safety Section, Emergency Management Office, Commonwealth Ports Authority, Office of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Coast Guard. 

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS UNIT (HAZMAT)

HAZMAT is a specialized 12-member, all-hazards response unit that handles weapons of mass destruction (WMD), such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRNE). This unit works closely with the Office of Homeland Security, Emergency Management Office, Commonwealth Ports Authority–Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) Unit, Division of Environmental Quality, Commonwealth Utilities Corporation, Division of Customs, and the Guam Army National Guard-Civil Support Team.
